On January 12, a delegation of ten led by Mr. He Yong, General Manager of Bayer China and Ms. Li Xiaomeng, Director of External Innovation and Cooperation of Bayer Asia Pacific visited 18新利体育备用网址 This is the first official visit of Bayer (China) to the university after the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between Bayer (China) and Jiangnan University at the 3rdCIIE on November 6, 2020. Chen Wei, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Jiangnan University, and representatives of teachers from the School of Food Science and Technology and the National Engineering Research Center for Functional Food attended the exchange meeting. Fan Daming, Vice President of the Institute of Science and Technology presided over the meeting.
Chen Wei expressed warm welcome to the delegation led by He Yong and introduced Jiangnan University in respect of its history, leading disciplines and scientific research at the beginning of the meeting, while Mr. He Yong looked back on Bayer AG's close bond with China over the past 153 years and its development history. He especially mentioned the innovative vision proposed by Bayer in keeping with the times with a focus on food, health maintenance, care and treatment based on traditional Chinese health concept as well as a myriad of demands for and planning on innovative products with relevance to preventive treatment of disease. Lu Wenwei, Deputy Director of National Engineering Research Center for Functional Food, gave an introduction to the delegation on the School of Food Science and Technology, the National Engineering Research Center for Functional Food and the probiotic science and technology team. Both sides renewed direction and ideas on further cooperation through communication and committed to drawing on each other’s strength and enhancing collaboration in the future.
Chen and He exchanged souvenirs representing respective history of both sides and took photos with members present after the meeting was concluded. The delegation later visited the School of Food Science and Technology, the National Engineering Research Center for Functional Food and Synergetic Innovation Center, and had an in-depth visit to and understanding of the probiotic science and technology team. After the visit, the two sides had an discussion on the joint R&D on new probiotic products (Dayixi Probiotic Powder Drink Type I - Heng and Type II - Chang), future collaborative R&D (mainly based on women's health, skin health, immune-related issues and children's diets) and joint efforts to carry out strategic cooperation on health consumer products in China. The two sides reached a preliminary agreement on the intention and framework of cooperation to extend the depth of collaboration and on building a synergetic innovation laboratory based on current cooperation achievements. It is believed that both sides would combine strength in the future to provide more and higher quality health products for consumers through sincere cooperation and complementary advantages.
