ABOUT US

The State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Technology (SKLF) was established in April 2007, and successfully passed the construction evaluation in 2010 and the five-year evaluation in 2011 and 2016 respectively by the Ministry of Science and Technology. SKLF is jointly operated by Jiangnan University and Nanchang University on the basis of two Key Laboratories of the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of Food Science and Safety in Jiangnan University and the Key Laboratory of Food Science in Nanchang University, respectively. SKLF is currently led by the director, Professor Zhengyu Jin of 18新利体育备用网址

The State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Technology has made enormous efforts in faculty and staff development. SKLF has 6 staff members and 92 research fellows, of which 71 are professors and 66 are Ph.D supervisors. The laboratory has 1 Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 3 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, 7 winners of the National Excellent Youth Science Fund, 2 winners of the Thousand Talents Program, 13 winners of the Ten-Thousand Talents Program, 3 winners of the Thousand Youth Talents Program, 9 specially-appointed professors of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program, and 3 professors of the Chang Jiang Youth Scholars Program.

The State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Technology aims to promote the advancement of food science and development of the Chinese food industry through basic and applied cutting-edge research and international collaboration, and strives to advance current food processing theories and to develop novel technologies that can guide the production of high-quality, nutritious, healthy, and wholesome food and food products. These goals will promote, maintain, and improve the overall health and sensory properties of foods. Current areas of special interest include: Food chemistry, structure and function, Food safety detection and control, Bio-manufacturing of functional foods and food ingredients, and Novel food processing technologies.
